Starting point

Engagement & Scoping defines the right starting point.

Engagement & Scoping helps define the right starting point, avoid assumptions and ensure any Discovery, Pilot or Programme is aimed at the real organisational need.

Before delivery

What this stage is

Engagement & Scoping is the practical setup stage. It clarifies what the organisation is trying to understand or strengthen before any Discovery, Pilot or Programme activity begins.

Aim the work correctly

Why it matters

Without clear scoping, the work can become too broad, too generic or aimed at the wrong problem. Scoping makes sure Glass Elephant is focused on the real route, boundary or escalation issue the organisation needs to address.

Buyer clarity

When it is useful

  • When pressure-related concerns are visible but the organisational question is not yet clear.
  • When responsibility sits across several functions, projects, regions or sites.
  • When senior sponsors need confidence that the work is practical, bounded and proportionate.
  • When the organisation needs to decide between Discovery, a Pilot, the Full Programme or implementation support.

Practical scope

What we clarify

  • The organisational need and intended outcome.
  • Which teams, sites, roles or routes are in scope.
  • Which existing policies, support routes and responsibilities matter.
  • What information can be reviewed during Discovery.
  • What Glass Elephant will and will not provide.

Useful stakeholders

Who needs to be involved

The right people depend on the organisation. Scoping may involve senior sponsors, operations, HR, H&S, project or site leadership, learning and development, Occupational Health or other people who understand how concerns currently move through the business.

Clear outputs

What you receive

A defined brief

A clearer statement of the problem, scope and intended outcome.

Recommended starting point

A practical recommendation on Discovery, Pilot, Programme or implementation support.

Boundaries and assumptions

A clear view of what remains with the organisation and what Glass Elephant is there to support.

Better next step

How it prepares Discovery or a Pilot

Scoping gives the next stage a sharper focus. Discovery can examine the right routes and responsibilities; a Pilot can use examples and questions that fit the organisation’s real construction context.

Clear limits

What it does not replace

Engagement & Scoping is not an audit, investigation, clinical assessment or substitute for HR, Health & Safety, Occupational Health, EAP, safeguarding, line management or governance. It sets up the work so those responsibilities remain clear.

Next step

Discuss the Half-Day Pilot.

Use the conversation to decide whether Discovery, a Pilot, the Full Programme, 90-Day Implementation or a Specialist Follow-On Service is the right next step.
